Grande Case, Silhouette Island

#3 of 7 in Historic Sites in Seychelles
Explore the reportedly haunted plantation house of Grande Case, where the original settlers--the Dauban family--had lived since 1860. Surrounded by lush foliage, this house boasts a striking corrugated-iron red roof and a stone plinth. Despite its attractive appearance, the house carries spooky tales of visitors sensing and seeing otherworldly presences in the upstairs rooms. Bottles full of greenery in every room are believed to keep the spirits at bay. Today the plantation houses a popular local restaurant and a mausoleum for several Dauban family members. • Tables on the veranda of this gem of a house (belonged to the Dauban family). Good food and music plus the inside of the house is a mini museum you can visit at the same time.  more »
  • A little disappointing, when we arrived there was only one other couple in the restaurant and it took over 30mins to get the first course, the food was reasonable but nothing special  more »
