#8 of 10 in Wildlife in La Digue Island
Wildlife Area · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Witness the rare paradise flycatcher that inhabits Veuve Nature Reserve. Found only on this island, the male flycatcher can be recognized by its long, black tail. While roaming the reserve, look for other species that live here, including moorhens, fruit bats, and terrapins. Information boards posted along the walking trails provide details about the trees and plants of the island. Outside of the forest, white sandy beaches offer a place to relax or go for a swim. Rent a bike to get around the island easily and discover the local way of life. While in the reserve, use mosquito repellent.
