Historical Museum of Serbia, Belgrade

This was another jigsaw piece in trying to understand the culture and influences of the Serbian people. I was impressed with the English version of the descriptions. Well written and detailed. I tried to use the interactive app on my smartphone, but to no avail. It needs to either have clearer instructions or be made more fool-proof. This is not the first time in the Balkans than this technology has been used, but it is still not ideal. For a pretty morbid subject, I enjoyed learning about this period of history and how the original Yugoslavia was formed. There was lots of facts and figures to take on board. It would have been good to have some maps relative to the locations being discussed. Spent just under two hours in the museum which was sufficient to read all the descriptions on the walls.

The World War 1 exhibition is fascinating and really impressive. If you are new to the role of Serbia during the Great War I recommend you to inform yourself prior to your visit or get yourself a local guide. You'll get to see different aspects of the war for a very affordable price. It's the only exhibition, it's not that small as it can last an hour or two, but it's definitely not enough to learn about this period.
