Magazin Kuptsov Yeliseyevykh, St. Petersburg

4.4
Sit next to a gigantic, tropical pine tree at a cafe in Magazin Kuptsov Yeliseyevykh and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with French pastries or cupcakes of your choice. The food hall occupies one floor of an early 20th-century Art Nouveau building, fully restored in 2012. Notice the allegorical sculptures of commerce, industry, science, and arts on the granite surface of the exterior. A giant, arched, stained-glass window makes the entire building appear as if it were one giant shop window. The hall on the lower floor has one of the best preserved Art Nouveau interiors in the city, with gilded ceilings, stuccoes, mosaics, wrought iron, crystal chandeliers, and mirrors. • The tour is led by a unique guide - Saprykina Lyudmila Yuryevna. It seems that this man knows everything about our city. Her knowledge is truly unique, and the manner of conducting excursions makes you feel like a witness to the era in question. The unusual architecture of the building attracts the attention of all pedestrians of Nevsky Avenue. The interiors of the store also leave no one indifferent. In addition to the store itself during the tour you can see the interior and two restaurants - one on the second floor and the second - in the basement. In addition, from this excursion (as with some others with Lyudmila Yuryevna) no one will go hungry-in the restaurant in the basement you will be treated to puffs of coffee or tea. It's a great tour. I recommend it to everyone.

  • On the Neevskiy perspective is this place where you can buy top-notch food (also takeaway) or have a quick snack/lunch with them. All in a classy environment. The staff were friendly and quality. It is worth entering and even just taking a look at the local :-)

  • A fairytale place in all its glory. Worth just visiting if nothing else. The added treasure is the restaurant upstairs hidden from view. The entrance is in the back of the main hall. Great service and food are just delicious. Very decent prices for the location and quality overall.
  • A chance to peek into how rich Russians spend their money. Food emporium which opened in 1902. Look at the exotic and high quality foodstuff sold in here. Beluga caviar at USD500 a serve (2019 prices). Many tourists browsing in the store and taking photos.
