The church was built in 1688 on behalf of Constantin Brancoveanu. He and his family are immortalized on a fresco in the church. He and his wife hold a model of the church in their hands. Next to him are his 4 sons, while the 7 daughters stand alongside his wife. The church is completely painted with frescoes.
