Museum of National History and Archeology houses an impressive historical and cultural heritage dating from the Paleolithic era to contemporary times, including a rare 2nd-century sculpture of Glycon, an ancient Macedonian snake god. The massive building, erected in 1921, is itself an example of Brâncovenesc architectural style, which combines Venetian and Ottoman influences. Exhibits are arranged chronologically. On the ground floor, see the collections of gold jewelry, silver vessels, gems, cameos, ancient coins, sculptures, and vases. The rooms on the upper floors showcase icons, maps, photographs, telegrams, and personal belongings of some notable people of the early 20th century. The complex is also home to the Roman Edifice of Mosaic. • The Archaeological Park in Constanța exhibits the remains of the city of Tomis, which was founded here during the Roman – Byzantine period. The outdoor ruins are situated and can be visited in the central area of the city, next to important touristic, such as the Casino and the Aquarium. Inside the park, visitors can also see the Roman city wall, which dates back from the 3rd century AD and presents towers, bastions and two gateways into the city. You should not miss the ruins of the Butchers’ Tower, rebuilt during the rule of Emperor Justinian I the Great. Considered to be an outdoor history museum, the Archaeological Park presents numerous amphorae which guard its alleys. These are large ceramic vessels used in the past for keeping provisions and cereals.
  • One of my favorite places in the world. One of the few places in the world were pure silence exists. I remember hearing my parents steps from 3 rooms distance as if they were in the same room. I would return there for the experience and for the historical significance of the material. Thank you!
