Head to Chapel of Christ the Savior (Capilla de Cristo), a quaint chapel with a rich history. According to legend, the chapel was built to celebrate the miracle survival of a racer who leapt over the edge of the city wall, after he was unable to stop his horse. The exterior of the 18th-century holy building features little more than an exposed bell tower. Inside, find a shining gold and silver altar surrounded by paintings from famous Puerto Rican artist Jose Campeche, all enveloped by white walls. • Chapel of the Holy Christ of Health, is a small stone chapel built in 1753 in the Spanish Baroque style with three arches that open to the Parque de Palomas, Tetouan Street and The Street of the Christ of Health in "Old San Juan". According to tradition the chapel was built on the site where it is said that a young rider named Baltazar Montañez, during a horse race suffered a fall falling to the precipice but miraculously saving himself from a certain death.
