El Portal Tropical Forest Center, El Yunque National Forest

Start your day in the jungle with a welcoming visit to El Portal Tropical Forest Center, the main visitor center of El Yunque National Forest and the gateway to the forest. An elevated walkway through the treetop canopy leads you to a series of educational displays scattered across two floors, with the knowledgeable staff manning the information desk happy to answer any of your questions. Sitting on the edge of the forest, the center is not a compulsory access point for exploring the trails, but your admission fee goes toward conservation work. A cafe provides welcome refreshment from the tropical hear and if you’re looking for souvenirs, head to the well stocked gift shop. Restrooms are also available.
