Arriving at the Sanctuary from Peninha you have to leave the car in the space below and walk a rocky road up hill, not at all tiring, but not suitable for those who have walking problems. You then arrive at the entrance to the Sanctuary area and to reach it you have to climb the steps, but already here the view is spectacular, to take your breath away, the wind is very strong and continuing to climb seems to be at the same altitude as the clouds, enjoying the view of Lisbon to the cliffs of Cape de Roca and beyond. The Sanctuary is closed, perhaps abandoned, but the place remains evocative and offers the opportunity to take photos of great beauty. If you are in the area it would be really a shame not to see it also because the path is not long and not even physically demanding.
Not accessible by public transport. You need to have your own car to go here. Once you are on the site it is worth it! Along the way is a quiet road. Good for forest and mountain lovers. Have enough gasoline and water. Some areas have no phone signals.
A beautiful place to be at and to enjoy the vibe of Portugal. You can explore every inch of it and even climb a rock above the water and get there from the ground. A beautiful place it is for sure.
