Parque Natural da Arrabida, Setubal

#1 of 90 in Parks in Alentejo
Famous for its golden beaches and secluded bays, Parque Natural da Arrabida stretches along the southeastern coastline of the Setubal peninsula. A protected area sheltering Mediterranean plant and animal wildlife, the vast park covers more than 100 sq km (42 sq mi) of mountainous landscapes covered with olives, pistachios, and lavender. The park's hills serve as a permanent home to a large population of native deer and boar, while the lower areas protect butterflies, beetles, eagles, and kestrels. To learn more about the area's diverse wildlife, visit the park's oceanographic museum inside a 17th century fort. Choose a car or motorcycle to explore the park--or take a guided boat tour along the coastline. Put Parque Natural da Arrabida into our Setubal journey maker tool and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Wonderful our saw! With various points of interest, excellent blue flag beaches and an unexplored nature. The sights offer an exceptional view of the South Bank or the Sado.

  • Arrábida is the only European mountain range that starts on a cliff by the sea and goes from Setúbal to Palmela... Only for that matter would be worth a visit! Breathtaking landscapes, paradiduous beaches, fantastic underwater environment, enviable cultural heritage, unique and diverse flora and fauna, rich gastronomy, caves, cliffs and the Promontorium sacrum!!! Arrábida is one of the most beautiful natural parks in Europe and possibly the world.

  • Beautiful park, pretty drive. Nice beaches, but a bit of a walk to get there. Small town Portinho has a few great places to get fresh fish, though you might have to order in Portuguese in some of them.
  • One of the best places in Portugal. The beaches are amazing, with a wonderful blue of the water, green and tall cliffs, as in a paradisiac place. Most of the beaches have easy access by car/foot. You can also try some restaurants with typical food and fish. In the sunset you have a sightseeing spot from above. Definitely recommended.
