  • Good ride and only 2km away. They picked me up from Jardineira at the hotel in Fatima at no additional cost (the hotel itself called and asked) and took me back too. You can reconcile the visit to the Sanctuary and the grotto. The grotto costs 7 euros the entrance and access to its interior is by paved stairs with a maximum depth of 45 meters. Guided tour that lasts around 30-40 minutes and the environment is well assembled, with lights and temperature around 18ºC. Great for kids to meet stalagmites and stalactites. On the way out there is a liqueur from the Region of Muffadinho for tasting for free.

  • It is a beautiful and natural place. Created with the river and the alkaline water. Please if you visit don't put your hands in the wall or in the stalactites and stalagmites. Because our skin has oils and they tend to block the natural process of it being formed. It's a good and beautiful place to visit, I'll tell you that. The guide speaks Portuguese, Spanish and French.
  • Our tour guide was great in offering a multi-lingual tour (French and Portuguese) and the grotto is in nice condition. I find that it is a little too touristy with a large gift shop and if I would have known that the grotto is on ''life support'' before, I would not have gone here. I say this because they artificially keep this grotto with running specially formulated water in order not to call it a ''dead grotto'' which is a little ironic. We did love the spice cookies/bread after the tour though.
