Trip Planner: Europe / Portugal / Northern Portugal / Porto District / Porto / Parque da Cidade do Porto
Portugal's largest urban park, Parque da Cidade do Porto combines large manicured sections with sprawling natural areas. The park, the country's only public green area linked to the ocean, attracts morning joggers and cyclists, weekend picnickers, and impassioned surfers. Spanning more than 80 hectares (200 acres), the park grounds include sparkling lakes, verdant tree groves, blossoming hedges, and natural rock formations. Designed by renowned architect Sidonio Pardal, this green zone serves as a giant lung, providing Portugal's second-largest city with a breath of fresh air. Wild ducks, swans, and geese make their home here, along with more than 70 tree species and 40 plant species. Take a walk along the wide pathways and try to identify some of them. By using our Porto trip planning website, you can arrange your visit to Parque da Cidade do Porto and other attractions in Porto.
Parque da Cidade do Porto reviews
It is the largest park in the city and well worth visiting. It is located in the coastal area, precisely in the Foz district. After a long walk along the ocean you can definitely change the scenery... more »
You can get off from the hop on hop off bus tour at the park, and see the ocean beaches as well. The park is very large with lots of green space. If you have just a few days in Porto i wouldn’t put... more »
Great Park once you get to the Central area. Don't be put off if you come by walking from the beach, as it gets better once you get close to the centre. It is host to various animals and birds as well as a nice lake. It is close to a mall and the beach, and bus services (500, 502...) present will bring you to and from the city centre.
A large natural looking park with 3 main lakes, geese, ducks, gulls, moorhens and coots. We also saw hens and roosters, jays, a little white egret and other birds. Lots of trees, small and tall. A pond with frogs. Clearly marked main paths, signposts and park maps. Plenty of space to sit, picnic, play ball games. At one end of the park, across the road is the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, a restaurant and café.
