Museu Serralves, Porto

#1 of 29 in Museums in Porto
In a minimalist building, Museu Serralves hosts frequently changing contemporary art exhibits. This prominent European contemporary circuit, part of the most-visited museum in Portugal, aims to bring attention to art and the fragile environment. Built on 18 hectares (44 acres) dotted with modern sculptures, the complex includes a 14-gallery museum, farmland, a shop, a bookstore, and several cafes. Use an audio guide at the museum to learn about its frequently changing exhibits and activities--there is not a single permanent exhibit at the site. • Before I could even enjoy one of the most well-known parks in my own city, I had a bad reception from the receptionist who was at the ticket office. I went with the intention to ask if it was in the right place to buy ticket and if yes it was worth entering the park (because there is no such information posted nowhere, just the houses and the museum) and the receptionist who was, cut me the word very Abruption saying that it was closed and did not help. Being a citizen of Porto, this type of reception/service on the part of Serralves is inadmissible, because they could have been more attentive and friendly in the way they talk to interested to know/See the space. As such, and for all who read this evaluation, I have only to say that if they have little time to visit the site (like the couple of Spaniards who also observed the occurred) and do not want to pay the large amount that is only to see the beauty of the park , I advise you not to go during the week.

  • The Foundation Museum: Complete scam! Nothing, absolutely nothing beats entry. The spaces could accommodate so many beautiful works rather than these crafts. The park is well worth it, very well maintained, well imagined. Oliveiras' house: yes extraordinary, we are dealing with a great architect. Too bad the furniture is no longer there. What is exposed to it is really lame.

  • This is the Shame of modern art museums. 18€ for the visit, museum almost empty with the vast majority of the rooms not available due to renovations. The contemporary art wing was also closed. No information at all before purchasing the tickets. The permanent exhibit was, in my opinion, poor and not interesting at all. Park is nice but not the best I've ever seen. Well done, it was a nice con.
  • This museum is a true house of wonders, due to its simple but amazing architecture and brilliant room placement everything you see will leave you in great awe, they not only provide you with a great visual experience but auditive as well. The garden outside is simply mystical, very tall trees blocking the sky view and beautiful houses hidden behind them with amazing pastel colors that seems to blend into the ground's own color as well. One of the houses had a beautiful front garden that seemed straight out of one of Wes Anderson's movies. This is truly a unique experience which I HIGHLY recommend to anyone near this museum.
