Popular among surfers thanks to its sizeable waves, Odeceixe Beach offers a wealth of opportunities for hitting the water, relaxing on the sand, and enjoy the coastline. Located at the mouth of the Seixe River on the border between the Algarve and Alentejo regions, the beach is a wide, sandy area surrounded by rocky cliffs and bluffs. You'll find, however, that you can access it easily via ramps and stairs from the nearby parking lot. A premier Blue Flag beach in Portugal, it's equipped with public restrooms and showers. You'll find bars, cafes, and stores nearby. Add Odeceixe Beach and other attractions to your Odeceixe trip itinerary using our Odeceixe trip planner.
Odeceixe Beach Reviews
What a magnificent beach !! We absolutely loved it here. The river running alongside and the crashing waves of the ocean;pure nature at work. A place not to be missed as well as the whole... more »
It's a very interesting beach near a river with a lot of space and waves (you can find many surfers) and despite the village is tiny, you can find few good cafes and food places to enjoy the day... more »
Natural Wonder! With a river flowing to the sea allowing you to enjoy both!! Really good services around from cafes, restaurant, Thai massage at the beach, surf school and equipment rental! Plenty of car parking for cars and caravans but not allowed to stay overnight! Not an issue because there's plenty of local hostels and other types of accommodation which I recommend to book in advance. The beach is split into left and right side. The right is good which have the river and sea side allowing a good time for all the family. The left side is a nudist beach with less sand area but some wonderful small caves in the rocks to quickly explore, I recommend that you avoid going there dressed for respect to whom may be there relaxing with friends and family! Overall this is a really wonderful beach to spend as much time as you can!
One of the best beaches in southwest Portugal yet not too crowded. Beautiful fine sand, amazing waves, Odeceixe river engulfing the beach, fantastic views from the cliffs above - more than enough reasons for me to drive 80km one way daily for 4 days in a row to enjoy this gorgeous place. There’s plenty of parking on the cliff and a couple of places to eat or have a coffee.
