Parque das Nacoes, Lisbon

A contemporary, multipurpose space, Parque das Nacoes was the site of Expo 98. Before 1998, when the area was home to the World Exposition, it was an industrial zone that was not used for recreational, residential, or commercial purposes. The parish was rejuvenated after the event and is still referred to as Expo by many locals. Today you can walk along the area's promenade past several fountains and the park's waterfall. Tour the Lisbon Oceanarium, explore the Vasco da Gama shopping mall, or go to a show at the Atlantic Pavilion concert hall. The parish is also home to a large marina that has a pier for cruises, pontoon for events, and places to watch birds.
