Jardim Zoologico, Lisbon

Explore the historical Jardim Zoologico with its 300 species of animals, many of which are endangered. Dr. Van Der Leen, who owned the largest aviary in the country, founded the zoo in 1884 with the support of a few others. This zoo is focused on conservation and the continuation of endangered species. Learn about its efforts by participating in an educational program or joining in a recreational activity on site. • Almost all the animals looked tortured and tired. The only exception was the brown bears, who "communicated" with tourists, rose to the rear legs and begged food. Previously visited Berlin and Amsterdam zoos, and such a feeling of plight of animals was not. On the day of our visit did not work cable car-one of the main attractions of the zoo. It was honestly warned at the checkout before buying a ticket.

  • Beautiful zoo in a just top setting, blending between old and new. Spaces for relatively large animals and a very nice walk to make. The Zoo is very large so you have to plan to walk a lot, plus it's a bit of a maze.
