Boca do Inferno, Cascais

Must see · Geologic Formation · Nature / Park
Boca do Inferno, or "The Mouth of Hell," features a natural rock arch with a cave that is known for sucking in ocean waves and shooting water out the top. Nestled in a dramatic environment of eroded cliffs and enormous waves, the site is a well-known photography spot. You can easily reach it by foot, and then follow stairs and bridges around it to get a better view or climb down to the cave if the ocean is calm. Be aware, however, that locals advise against climbing due to the sharp rocks. • If you’re around, in Lisbon or Cascais, I’d say it’s definitely worth seeing it! It has a fantastic view! And you can find amazing cafes and restaurants around it!  more »
  • First of all, it can be quite crowded. Depends when you are going there. I have been there many times and quite many times, it was not crowded at all. You will not be disappointed even if it´s...  more »

  • Amazing rock formation at the sea. Take a walk along towards Cascais to explore even more. The nature is remarkable. And if you return take a bite and have a drink at the "Rocha do Inferno" at the entrance. It worth a visit regardless the weather. Actually, is the weather is stormy, it is much more dramatic.
  • Interesting place to see. You can really see the power of the ocean here. Unfortunately, as in such a place, there are usually a lot of people. In close proximity there are toilets and a few pubs - but no revelations. There is a bus stop nearby, and there are parking spaces for private cars. If you are close you should come and see!
