Castle of Braganza
Built in 1409 and classified as a national monument, Castle of Braganza represents an outstanding example of medieval architecture. Despite its age, the fortification has withstood elements surprisingly well. Explore the citadel and Old Town, including the church of Santa Maria and the Domus Municipalis. The entire attraction is made up of 15 towers and three gateways. Look for medieval features like the battlements, the railed windows, and the stone carved arms of the Royal House of Avis. Those interested can stop by the on-site military museum. Probably one of the best Preserved Castles I have seen. The Bailey, keep and courtyard all complete. The museum inside is not quite as good unless you love pistols & swords and and can read Portuguese. Pleasant way to spend a few hours. You can walk the complete Rampart around the village.

Beautiful castle. One of my favorites in Portugal. Free entrance up to midday.
