  • We drove up from the Algarve to visit Beja and had a lovely day out. However, be aware the castle tower is ," temporarily closed" for the foreseeable future. It's worth checking before you set out  more »
  • This castle was builded in the 13th century. If the weather is clear you can see very far from the tower. The area around the castle is also very nice, narrow streets with cute, white houses.  more »
  • Nice views of the city. It's a good place to have a quick break and relive some memories of a different era. The castle is in good conditions.
  • Quite an impressive castle that is completely open to explore and climb the walls. I believe the main tower closes at certain times but we managed to arrive and quickly climb to the top for breathtaking views of the town and surrounding area. Few info cards around the place detailing the history of the castle both in Portuguese and in English, not too much information but a good glimpse into it's history. Well worth a visit if you are driving through the area.
