Today you can see dozens of statues, chapels, and cathedrals exquisitely hand carved by generations of miners. An important national monument, the mine draws over a million domestic and foreign visitors each year. Entry is by guided tour only, so buy your tickets well in advance. • Really disappointed with this tour. Getting there from Kracow was a nightmare as bus only leaves the centre every 20 mins and can take an hour if traffic is heavy. You are given an entry time and if y...  more »
  • We did the sightseeing tour and it was really interesting. The tour was about 2 hours and the total tour will be about 2km. There is an elevator that avoids the first 400 steps (800 total) although it is only for people who have some mobility problem (I think there are special tour for people in wheelchairs, etc.). The Spanish guide there explained everything very well. The said, interesting tour although, in my opinion, if you are a few days in Krakow and you have to choose between tours of the center, Jewish quarter, ghetto, concentration camp, etc. I think this is the most expendable.

  • We arrived with a tour group so tickets and all were taken care of. Our guided did a phenomenal job for 2 hrs. I enjoyed the salt mines more than I thought I would. I didn't realize what was down there - that Cathedral! It was well organized and timed. Toilets and comfort break given on our tour. Would recommend if you are in the area. I suggest doing a guided tour. Listening devices provided.
  • Absolutely stunning experience! Whatever are your expectations of this place, it will overcome it. The tour lasts for about 2.5 - 3 hours, be ready to walk a lot. However there is a part of the touristic route suitable for wheelchair access. It's good to have some warm clothes (it's about 14-16C inside) and a bottle of water. There are also souvenir shops and restaurant in the end of the route.
