  • We visited Auschwitz with a guide. What struck us immediately was that it was quite crowded and it also took some commercial at the entrance. This gave a strange feeling at this place. Do not take big bags because they are not allowed and do good running shoes because the terrain is not easy to walk and the stairs there in the buildings. The tour was quite impressive and clear explanation. The mountains shoes, the cans Zyklon B, the hairs and the suitcases; It was all very sad to see. The group of the tour was quite large, but with sound equipment the tour of the Guide was good to follow. Photos were not taken anywhere. But what surprised us was that there were people who took pictures of the gas chambers and from the holes where the gas came through and also from the crematorium. This went very far. In fact, that should not be allowed out of respect for the victims. There also seems to be a Dutch department in the camp. It is unfortunate that we have not pointed this out because we would have liked it. Then with the guide to Auschwitz Birkenau. By bus you will be taken to this area and then it is a pretty brisk hike. This visit made even more emotions loose. What a great complex, terrible sight and it is very impressive to see: The Barracks, the train track and the ruins of the gas chambers. Also at these ruins, tourists again made pictures of the gas chambers and also of the foundations. This also went too far. In fact, one should not allow this out of respect for the victims. The tour was good and the guide of Auschwitz had a lot of knowledge. There is a museum shop with interesting books at Auschwitz Birkenau for the entrance also in Dutch.
