Krakow Zoo (Ogrod Zoologiczny), Krakow

#1 of 20 in Parks in Krakow
Just outside the city, Krakow Zoo (Ogrod Zoologiczny) rests on a Jurassic plateau in a 17 hectare (42 acre) area. It is home to more than 1,400 animals including a herd of pygmy hippopotamuses and Przewalski horses, in addition to other animals. The latter only live in captivity, while many of the other zoo residents can be found in the wild in small numbers, such as snow leopards. Known for its successful breeding methods, the zoo shelters new animal babies--it is not uncommon to see a new cub or chick trotting after their mother in the habitats. You can purchase tickets at the attraction for a very affordable price, so consider taking a taxi to the zoo to save time. While there is no restaurant here, a cafe near the exit serves snacks and drinks. • You can see that the garden is run by people who have an idea. The changes and upgrades that are conducted only encourage you to come back here. Besides not too much area of the zoo and the good distribution of animals makes the sightseeing is not tiring or boring. Two hours of sightseeing are just enough to not get discourage. The garden is very well connected with the center of Krakow, so you do not have to drive your own transport.

  • It's good to see the animals at close range, and you can see that many of the animals that pretty cannot see are African animals. Don't go on holiday because of the park stop. If the holiday is going to stop to 1 kilometers away, the other stop is very tired to the zoo.

  • Really enjoyed our experience here - however, the penguins (which are our favourites) were unfortunately not there when we visited. It's a shame really as I'd read that they had them and was excited to see them but I suppose you can't have everything.
  • Nice zoo, took a couple of hours to walk around, very friendly, could of done with a guide and animal descriptions in English. But all in all a very very nice zoo and they had a baby jaguar. Animals very active, lovely to see.
