Sitting atop a natural hill at 326 m (1,070 ft) above sea level, Kosciuszko's Mound (Kopiec Kosciuszki) stands as an architectural marvel that was erected in 1823 to commemorate Polish national leader Tadeusz Kościuszko. The man-made mound was modelled off the natural mounds in Krak and Wanda, and has both the Founding Act encapsulated in a glass and marble case at its base and buried urns filled with battlefield soil inside it. In the 1850s, Austrian fortifications were added to the site, but were later demolished following World War II. In 2003 the mound was restored with state-of-the-art technology to protect it from the elements; a museum next door preserves artifacts and mementos of Kosciuszko's life. • I recommend to go to the mound, very nice view of the panorama of Krakow and besides is to visit the museum and the exhibition of wax figures

  • Nowhere will you meet so many wax personalities:-) There were: Jan Matejko (Super pants), Henryk Sienkiewicz, Adam Mickiewicz, Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Paderewski, Józef Piłsudski and Pope. A beautiful fragment of the history of the Polish nation.

  • Magnificent view from top! A nice walk reaching the monument. The top is reached easily after another quick walk upwards on the hill. Was very lucky to find out that there was also an event / gathering of Mustangs. New models as well as old timer classics. Impressive to see them all at one place.
  • Absolutely stunning views of Krakow from the top of the Kosciusko Mound. I cycled to it the first time I visited it, not recommended for the casual cyclist as there's a steep incline up to it, I had to push my bike for the last 10 minutes but the cycle along the river from the city centre was beautiful. Visited a second time by Uber, much less effort. There's a lovely little cafe that you can have a beer or a coffee in. Would highly recommend on a nice day.
