Parafia Wang, Karpacz

Visit Parafia Wang to see a medieval Norwegian wooden church built without nails and held together by wooden joints. A Prussian king bought this 12th-century stave church from a village in Norway. The building was taken to pieces, shipped in boxes, and reconstructed in southern Poland in 1844. Check out the Norwegian architectural details carved in wood, such as lions, winged dragons, and runes. Look for a runic inscription on the doorway of the church, probably identifying artist Eindridi--nicknamed dexterous or handy--responsible for the decorations.
