Rizal Shrine, Manila

4.3
#2 of 19 in Museums in Manila
Museum · Hidden Gem · Specialty Museum
Inside the fortifications of Fort Santiago, see Rizal Shrine, the site of the incarceration and death of Philippine national hero José Rizal, and today a museum offering guided tours. Wax dolls, memorabilia, artifacts, books, manuscripts, and other personal belongings tell the life story of José Rizal, a doctor and the leader of the national movement, who was executed by the Spanish colonial government. The most memorable exhibits include a copy of his last song, "Mi Ultimo Adios," and the first draft of the novel "Noli Me Tangere." After the tour, take a walk through the park, which features fountains and plenty of lush vegetation. • I admit I did not know much about Rizal, but he is such an important person for the Philippine history and he is remembers all over the place.  more »
  • This is a tribute place for Philippines national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. If you're a fan of his story then visit this place. Aside from the statue there's also a lot of things to do so it's worth it.  more »

  • I learned facts here that I’ve never learned from my history/Rizal class back in school. Or maybe I haven’t read that much. Well, it’s never too late to learn.
I filippini vengono qui come in pellegrinaggio.
