Big Lagoon, El Nido

4.7
#2 of 18 in Nature in El Nido
The tranquil turquoise-green waters of Big Lagoon lie tucked between magnificent limestone cliffs fringed by tropical vegetation. Showcasing a kaleidoscope of marine life, the spot provides an excellent diving and snorkeling opportunity. Cruise into it with a catamaran and hop off the boat for a pleasant swim, or kayak around to explore all the shades of blue and caves under the dramatically ridged cliffs. Set in the midst of karst formations sheltering clear waters, the lagoon is a breeding ground for numerous fish and crustaceans. Tours usually include an adventure to the island's smaller lagoon nearby and fresh seafood treats. Make Big Lagoon a part of your El Nido vacation plans using our El Nido trip planner .

  • The most magical place. It is strongly recommended for private island cruises in groups 4 through 6. Entrance into a small cave, canoeing, a very enjoyable experience.

  • As beautiful, the place is a gift from nature and it is very worth going there and seeing the green color, so amazing and beautiful that it has the water, the whimsical shapes of the rock formations, the vegetation that covers everything, the paradise right? yes, but... everything is like this, until the plague comes in which we have become humans and we can make the greatest haven of peace become a fair, boats, kajaks, people swimming, some crashing into each other, voices, screams and... is the stark reality. When we arrived in the Philippines, they explained that in those days a new regulation had just been introduced decreed by the Government and consisting in the limitation of boats and visitors according to which stops of the tours, among which was included the Big Lagoon among others, with all this I expected during our visit that the place would be less crowded, which leads me to think that if with the number of restricted visitors we were so many walking around the area at the same time, before the new regulations, it would be a real madness.
