Sunken Cemetery serves as a haunting reminder of nature's power, marked by a white cross protruding from the tropical ocean. The birth of Mt. Vulcan lasted about four years between 1871 and 1875, its volitile beginnings ultimately sinking a nearby portion of coast where the town of Bonbon and its cemetary resided. The grand white cross that signifies the location of the burial ground was erected in 1982; built on a solidifed part of the lava left behind after the eruption, it also incorporates a viewing platform. Catch a boat out to the cross, where can step onto the platform and reflect on the island and the departed below the water. Sunken Cemetery reviews
The sand was black and sparky, but really fine. It was beautiful. We did not get to snorkel since my friends didn't want to. It is a really nice place to see the sunset though and just chill. more »
the place was very beautiful you need to pay for the environmental fee which was ok because while you go snorkelling you can see that the corals and the fish are taking care of more »
A wonderful man helped my wife and I have beautiful photos together of this place. It isn't much more than a lookout point to where the cross is in the water, but it's still something worth seeing on this island.
Visiting the sunken cemetery is one of things everyone does who visits Camiguin island. But it’s not really a must see place. However you would still probably enjoy it.
