Lake Umayo is a lake in Atuncolla District of the Puno Region of Peru. The Sillustani burial ground is near the shores of the lake. Lake Umayo is located in the Puno area, at an altitude of 3. 844 meters and we visited it during a tour of the pre-Ink burial ground Sillustani, which lies on its shore. To enjoy this impressive and very photogenic place in all its glory, you need to climb to the top of the hill, from which you will open up amazing views of the quiet, dark blue surface of Lake Umayo, even with the unique table mountain that stands out from it. I recommend keeping some time reserve so you have time to stop or sit here and let the unusual natural beauty of this lake affect yourself. As we climb to the ruins of the necropolis of Sillustani we find this lake, beautiful view, plateau shapes of the mountains, give the touch of balance to so much mountain and stone. It's worth getting to the top to see it.View original

The lagoon of Umayo, is located in Puno, just to the side of the Chullpas of Sillustani, is a wonderful place where to accede you must pay the Modica sum of 5 suns. At the entrance you can see small artisanal sellers where they offer small products at affordable prices, also offer food and hygienic services by SIU need them. To climb the chullpas you must walk about 30 minutes however to be at such height (aprox 4000 masl) can cause you to step up (altitude sickness), so it is advisable to bring water, lemon candies and pills for headache as gravol. At the top you will see the Chullpas but you will also see the beautiful lagoon, a clear sky and a dream landscape like the photo that accompanies my description. To get to this place it is advisable to take a private car as it is difficult to take a bus that passes through the area. It cost us 100 suns from Puno to Juliaca (which is where take the plane), where the driver waited for us and we were able to enjoy this beautiful place. I recommend going early in the morning as there are not many people and enjoy the scenery, plus you have to wear warm clothes because otherwise you will die of cold, a scarf and sunglasses are always a good option.View original
