Marasha Natural Reserve, Puerto Alegria

At Marasha Natural Reserve, hike through Amazon forest among huge trees, while exploring the diversity of wildlife, such as multicolored parrots and capybaras. Go sport fishing for piranha, take a ride in a kayak, or do some alligator spotting. Other safe and well-organized activities include a canopy zipline, swimming and canoeing in the picture-postcard lake, and guided walks through the jungle. The reserve gets its name from a small, spiny palm that grows around the lake. Relax in clean and comfortable wooden cabins (equipped with nets that keep out mosquitoes and other insects), and listen to the sounds of the jungle. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Puerto Alegria holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Marasha Natural Reserve and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • From the moment you arrive at the straightened jetty everything is the attention of the staff. We had to rent the high boots, essential to make the journey of 2,800 meters that lead to the facility. This path is fantastic to observe plants and animals, our guide was telling us the uses and customs of the Indians: edible ants, hair clipper plants, etc The complex is located in front of a natural lagoon. These are large cabins perfectly suitable and integrated, all super natural without added luxuries. Kayaking activities, fishing for all kinds of fish, including piranhas, night out in search of alligators... unique experiences. The endearing people, overturned with the visitors. Breakfast, lunch and dinner very good. I leave without describing too much the night time visit of "Peluchín"... a surprise. The recommended exit is by a hand-scaveted channel where the canoe fits justite...

  • The reservation is very special why it is quiet and you experience direct contact with nature, accompanied by a concert of indecipherable sounds. As for the cabins are very clean, but the food is regular and there is little evening entertainment, turn off the lights at 8 and it's time to get into the dark room until you dream hahaha, since there is no bar or music or anything , which creates a very boring environment, especially if you go alone.
