  • The traditional ancient settlement of the Inků Pucará in the region of Puno is located in a mountainous area, northwest of Lake Titan. To the west of the city is an archaeological site from year 1. 800 BC. Pukará was the first town centre in the Puno region, and was named after a different culture called Pukara. Pucará was an important administrative and religious center. In this area there is a sector of monolithic pyramids. Pukara was a very influential culture, which in the years 200 BC dominated the entire lake area of the Titan. Pukara culture has been engaged in agriculture, grazing and fishing. The culture is also characterized by ceramics, painted in colorful colors. Human and animal motifs were used in most of the same. The place is famous for the "Torito de Pucará" painted bulls from ceramics, who still use the locals in harmony with their religion to protect their homes against evil spirits and for happiness. The adorable hand-painted bulls ' statues have been bought as souvenirs, along with the "miracle" healing Water of Agua de Florida, which is still used by local shamans in their rituals. Water has a unique composition of a mixture of herbs that help at this extreme altitude 3. 860 meters better manage the incipient symptoms of mountain disease and refresh breathing and airways, stressed by lack of oxygen we tried on the bus from the local guide and we really felt refreshed, so we also bought two small vials, because we Waited a trip to Lake of the Titan and its islands. In the center of the town is the magnificent historic Church of the Iglesia de Santa Isabel de Pucará, with the Plaza de Armas, where at the time of our visit in October 2018 was a loud electoral campaign of local political parties.. The square was full of local inhabitants, so from these places we have another remarkable experience from our trip around Peru.
