    This is a not too difficult hike in interesting ruins. Plan at least 1 1/2 hours to hike the entire ruins.  more »

    We DID NOT stay long enough in Ollantaytambo - thus we only partially walked up the trail and did not get the payoff of seeing the ruins. However, what we did manage to hike was fabulous and we would....  more »

    Waste of money. There are 20,000 miles of Inca trails in South America, and just for the 30 miles to Macchu Pichu you toss out $800 to $900 ( including mandatory tips!) per person to get little in return. I can spend days in the Alps or on the Appalachian trail without a personal chef cooking 3 course meals just for me. Why this is the norm on the Inca trail escapes me! I strongly recommend to go directly to Macchu Pichu by train, book tickets to also hike up Huayna Pichu. Burn your carbs elsewhere in Peru, there is plenty of free or at least cheaper trails.
