Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Marvel at the grand 16th century architecture of Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy. Originally constructed of wood, the church now features a baroque facade that was carved from adobe and brick in 1591. Inside you'll find works of art decorating the walls, stone arcades and columns, and a statue standing in the middle of the church. The artwork hanging on the wall tells the story of the church’s founder, Fray Muguel de Orenes, whose remains are housed in the church.
