Embark on a journey through the evolution of Peruvian woven cloth at AMANO, Museo Textil Precolombino. The museum features 120 textile works from pre-Columbian Peru, 460 examples of Chancay textiles, tools and raw materials used in textile production, and Chancay funeral figures. A successful Japanese businessperson, Yoshitaro Amano, started collecting and conserving textiles and objects abandoned by tomb raiders, and went on to found the museum in 1964. Learn how the textiles were woven to tell stories and communicate spiritual beliefs through representations of deities, humans, and animals. Renovated and reopened in 2015, the museum includes the latest multimedia applications, videos, and informative panels.
