Museo Inka, Cusco

3.8
#4 of 39 in Museums in Cusco
With a neatly and informatively displayed permanent collection, Museo Inka lets you learn about the culture and civilization that rose here in the early 13th century, dominating the region until the Spanish arrival in the late 16th century. Set in a site containing ancient Incan foundations, the museum showcases a good array of artifacts, including jewelry, pottery, textiles, and mummies, as well as educational models and reconstructions. Buy handicrafts made onsite by highland Andeans employing traditional weaving and carving methods to make pieces that represent excellent souvenir ideas. • Very interesting museum, making the approach of the Inka culture from its primordios to the moment of its decline. Plenty of archaeological pieces. Recommend.

  • The museum is the largest in Cusco and presents not only elements of the region, but also of all the cultures of Peru, walking it quietly will demand a good time, which is advisable to do. There is no guiding service, which is disappointing as the number of rooms to see would look better used if there was someone to explain in detail the important things. However, a guide told us that if there is guidance service since in that place the professional guides do their internships. The entrance fee is S/.5.00 soles per person. Visiting hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00. Saturdays and holidays from 9:00 to 16:00.

  • Our guide (Gabriela) was amazing, and that affects this review. She explained everything succinctly and interestingly. Without a guide, there are some sections to read, but you really don't get enough from that. I suggest the guide (it is cheap if you have a few people), and enjoy this amazing museum!
  • Great museum for learning about, and seeing, the many historical cultures and artifacts. The presentation and information is very well done and useful. I learned a lot about things I was always curious about. Artisans also sell crafts here of higher quality.
