Designed to calm the Pacific waves at the entrance into the Panama Canal, Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador) extends for just over 6 km (3.7 mi) and links the mainland with three small islands. Built using soil excavated during the construction of the canal, the causeway serves as a popular weekend getaway for swimmers, walkers, rollerbladers, joggers, and cyclists. The northern section features a number of bars, restaurants, and hotels, making this area a favorite nightlife destination for both residents and foreign visitors. Don't miss a small museum dedicated to the area's natural and social history, a good place to learn about the little country's capital city.   • Very scenic. Boats at anchor and underway. Good place for hiking, jogging and bicycling. And some people were walking their dogs. I got in some exercise as I fast-walked part of the way.  more »
