Trollstigen, Andalsnes

#1 of 15 in Scenic Drive in Western Norway
Must see · Scenic Drive · Tourist Spot
Drive up Trollstigen, a scenic serpentine mountain road through the alpine landscape of a protected area, parts of which belong to a national park. The narrow road with 11 sharp bends climbs up to a 700 m (2,300 ft) plateau with panoramic viewing balconies. Leave your car in the parking lot here and walk out to the platform to view the winding road and two waterfalls. King Haakon VII opened the road in 1936 after eight years of construction. A modern tourist facility with restrooms, a gift shop, and a museum was completed in 2012. Plan to see Trollstigen and other attractions that appeal to you using our Andalsnes trip itinerary app.
