Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim

4.5
Home of the grave of Norway's patron saint, Nidaros Cathedral stands as one of the country's most important religious sites and one of the largest medieval buildings in Scandinavia. Original construction started in 1070 over the resting place of Saint Olaf, and the church took on elements of both Gothic and Romanesque architecture over the centuries. Stop by the sizable cathedral to admire its dual bell towers and intricate facade, replete with arches, windows, and pillars. Explore the vaulted interior and its large stained-glass window section. Don't miss the crypt, which contains a multitude of medieval-era headstones found within the church. • A beautiful majestic cathedral, remotely reminded me of the cathedral in Milan. A good place to walk, of course I recommend going there if you are in Trondheim.

  • An amazing cathedral. A very good explanation given by one of the brothers. For some strange reason they don't allow taking pictures of the inside of the cathedral, so I can't show it's inner beauty, but it is very well preserved and is one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the cathedral, but be warned you cannot take photos inside. The exterior is magnificent and the grounds a mixture of stalls, ships and old graveyard. When in Trondheim you absolutely must stop and check this place out! You will not be disappointed 😉
