  • Edward Munch donated in 1940 most of his personal collection to the city of Oslo. He did this to protect his art work from the hazards of WWII. The museum was inaugurated in 1963. I really like the bu...  more »
  • It is a museum dedicated to Munch but also to his museum, especially following the theft in 2004 of work during a robbery. The visit is interesting but the museum is quite small.

  • Waited around 2 hours in the queue (which is OK), but it turned out that there was not so many works of art there. And Munch was a VERY productive artist himself! Looking forward to the National Gallery opening...
  • The paintings on display were of course incredible, but it didn't seem like there were very many of them. We also found the layout of the place confusing. I guess there is no permanent collection, only one or two particular exhibitions. The cafe does make a lovely spot to sit outside with some good coffee and snacks.
