Entrenched inside the mountain plateau, Nordkapphallen marks the northernmost tip of mainland Europe. Discovered by an expedition searching for the Northeast Passage in 1553, this spot was long described as the end of the world. Stand on the massive cliff at 307 m (1,007 ft) above sea level next to the Globe monument, and look out into the Arctic Ocean. The cliff also shelters a cinema that shows a film about the changing seasons in the area, as well as a massive underground tunnel with exhibitions about the North Cape's history. Indulge in some freshly baked waffles at the restaurant with an ocean view. The center also features a chapel, which is a popular wedding venue, as well as seven monuments to joy and friendship made by children from all over the world. Besides the incredible price it appears that in off-season (we came in early september) they close down the whole building (including toilets) even before 8 pm and the whole restaurant is unstaffed as well (no breakfast).
North cape is north cape. Anyway this place is very turistic. Be aware that at the entrance (not Norwegian people working at the cashier) they will try to convince you to buy the full ticket instead of the ticket with reduced price. The full ticket (285 NOK) comprehends entrance to an indoor area with a cinema (where they show a totally stupid film about north cape) and a separated balcony with view on the see. These things are totally unuseful and by the way nobody is checking whether you have one ticket or the other! My recommendation, ask for the reduced price ticket. For the rest, well it's know. Beautiful place. It can be Crowded.
