#9 of 10 in Historic Sites in North Korea
Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Landmark
The place where Kim Il Sung boarded a train upon his return to Korea at the end of World War II, Old Wonsan Station represents an important revolutionary site. The reconstructed building itself dates back to 1975, after the early 20th-century original suffered destruction in the Korean War. Enjoy a bit of history here in the revolution museum, featuring the very train the supreme leader boarded, as well as the ticket offices and departure timetables--all carefully restored and well worth a photo. • This is an old railway station, long closed down but opened as a touristic attraction with undertones of the revolution. I was not impressed.  more »
