Catedral de Granada, Granada

4.5
#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Granada
Visit one of the city's landmarks at Catedral de Granada, a neoclassical church that dominates the urban skyline. The 1972 edifice features a striking red and yellow facade, along with two domed towers and bell tower. Walking through the church's five altars, and look for the sacred image of the Virgen de la Concepción, saved from destruction by fire in 1856. Also, pay attention to the main altar's statue of Mary surrounded by silver, and backed by blue mosaic tiles. Climb the bell tower to enjoy views of the city, the lake, and the volcano in the distance. • The cathedral is very nice, however I value it with only a 3 for several reasons. First of all, I don't think it's right to pay to get into a cathedral, and on top of that you will be charged separately the entrance to the cathedral and the Royal Chapel, with a total of 12 euros being the visit. Nor do I understand that there is not one day a year in the Granadans we can enter and visit emblematic places of our city or that it is cheaper for residents. This year I've been lucky enough to be able to welcome several friends who wanted to visit my city and every time I want to show them the cathedral I spend 12 o'o I wait outside and when it's the fifth time in the year you're resigned or you do the ugly thing to a friend Which isn't right either.

  • We have been visiting this monument today, and the truth is that I was quite surprised. I expected it smaller, but it is one of the largest in Spain. To enter you have to pay 5 euros, a very economical price because they also give you an audio guide where they explain the history of the different chapels, frescoes, sculptures and treasure of the cathedral. It's worth going to see her even once in a lifetime. I also highly recommend its Royal Chapel, which has a price of 5 euros per person with audio guide included, in which are buried the Catholic kings of Spain together with Joan and Philip the Beautiful, is the most important burial monument in Spain. Must-see if you go to Granada.
