Willowbank Wildlife Reserve
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve provides a glimpse into New Zealand's natural heritage and addresses the issues that threaten its future. The reserve's 50-plus animals are grouped into three categories that track the development of the country's ecosystem: Wild New Zealand features animals introduced in the early days of the country; Heritage New Zealand houses domesticated creatures that have shaped the nation's farming industry; and Natural New Zealand supports the iconic and rare species that make up its special ecological community. Kiwis, kea, gibbons, wallabies, and more can all be found at the reserve. Purchase some food bags to feed the critters before chowing down yourself at the onsite restaurant. Willowbank is an amazing place to visit. It's so amazing that I now volunteer. I encourage people to fill out the volunteer form, get out there and lend a hand. The staff are awesome and the animals well of course they are and it's all great for your well being. It's helped me so much with my depression and anxiety being in an amazing place with amazing people. I'm learning all the time about nature, the animals and environment - just loving it. Thank you Willowbank for allowing me to be a Volunteer.

We were very impressed with the general layout and accessibility to the animals. The plaques were informative without being a lot of reading it was a very enjoyable and informative experience. We only got to spend a little time before our Maori experience but enjoyed the space and seeing the animals we were able to see. Would like to spend more time next visit.
