Spanning two connected sites, Museum of Transport and Technology boasts a comprehensive collection of civilian and military transport vehicles. The aircraft collection represents the largest of its kind in the country and includes impressive pieces, such as relics from Richard Pearse's first 1903 aircraft, a wooden fighter bomber, and advanced jet trainers.   • We visited during the school holidays and while Auckland was at level 2. The website informed us about displays etc that would not be available which was good, although disappointing to not have the.....  more »
  • Spent a full afternoon just wandering around looking at and learning of all the exhibits on the site. It was a scorching hot day so we were glad of the shelter. A lot has changed in 6 years so needed....  more »

  • It was a fun experience. Amazing collection of modes of transportation and technology. I particularly enjoyed the functioning rides. Like the tram, steam powered train and horse carriage. It takes you to a different time and place, if you know what I mean. The old telephone units took me down memory lane. Quite amusing. But I think the highlight of it all is the aviation section. Awesome display of fighter planes. Huge ones! One concern though. If you go there and rain suddenly pours, chances are you will get wet when moving from one building to the next. So check on the weather before going. We were not so lucky.
  • An interesting day out for any age. I used to love coming here as a kid and I still do now. If you take the time to read the plaques and talk to the friendly and passionate staff you can learn so much
