At 3,710 m (12,170 ft) altitude and at the foot of the magnificent Himalayas stands Muktinath Temple, a sacred sanctuary for both Hindus and Buddhists. The pagoda style temple represents both Lord Vishnu and Buddhist Gompla. Pilgrims and devotees of both religions come to worship their deities, burn incense and candles, and perform rituals. Bring your own prayer flags and hang them in this holy place. Panoramic views spread across the surrounding mountains. Highlights include the 108 fountains where people come to refresh and relax, and a human size gold statue of Lord Vishnu.
