  • Shukla Phanta is certainly little visited by Europeans. When I was there I was the only visitor at all.... To the animals you notice that they are less accustomed to people than in e.g. Chitwan. They show themselves less easily and are clearly more alert and flee quickly if you move too fast or make too much noise. The large open plains are impressive. Here it is also where you see the deer where the park is known by. To see this well, it is advisable to visit this park in March of April, the grass is short (pruned by the locals). When I was there, elephant grass was well 3 meters high. The park is easily accessible and the only hotel in the area is a few feet from the entrance. Good for a 2 day visit.
