Shechen Monastery, Kathmandu

4.0
Shechen’s monasteries, nunneries, centers, and the Dilgo Khyentse Fellowship ensure that the valuable spiritual heritage of Kyabje Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche and Kyabje Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche is transmitted and maintained in all its vibrancy. In our monastic retreat centers students apply their studies in philosophy to meditation practices. Our colleges are repositories of knowledge and create the teachers of the future.

The tradition and philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism has been preserved intact over thousands of years. (MORE) It is one of the world’s precious treasures. Its pragmatic teachings on compassion and its detailed understanding of the mind and emotions have great value for the world. Now it is threatened with extinction within its own country.

Shechen works actively to preserve its living vibrancy through education, archival work, the reproduction of lost texts, revival of the art of Tibetan painting, and the sacred dance tradition of eastern Tibet. Support for these activities comes from our sponsorship programs, private donors, and family foundations.
