  • Nga Htat Gyi means "five-story Buddha" and is located in front of the Chayyat Buddha Gyi, which is the one reclined. The Ashay Tawya monastery houses this huge sitting Buddha statue that sits on an iron-structured pavilion with a 5-layer roof. Therefore, the name Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda comes from the structure that literally meant 5 layered roofs the white Buddha is beautifully adorned in gold and precious gems. Serenely observing devotees from above on its platform, the Buddha Ngahtatgyi has a striking appearance, framed by his exquisite gold crown and the original gold "armor". The ceiling and wall behind the Buddha are intricately carved, and there are paintings and other artworks within the complex. Chinthe's guardian lions greet visitors at the entrance to the paya.

  • A massive warehouse that has been converted into a pagoda. It houses a 100 year old sitting buddha image that is 9 meter tall and 14 meter wide. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Nearby and walkable from the Chauk Htat Kyi buddha (Reclining Buddha) is the Ngar Htat Gyi Pagoda which houses the sitting Buddha. With it's towering height, I would totally encourage you to see it should you be in the area. It's just across the street from the reclining buddha. Entrance is free. Foreigners are encouraged to donate. However donations are still up to you ultimately.
