Admire the spectacular Maha Aung Mye Bon Zan Monastery, an impressive example of Burmese monastery architecture. Built in 1818 by Queen Me Nu as the residence of the royal abbott, the building veered away from tradition and was built using masonry rather than wood, giving it the nickname "the brick monastery." Photographers will relish the opportunity to explore this marvellous structure, which offers the finest brickwork decorated with flora and stucco. Follow inner passageways to uncover several Buddha images. Surrounding the monastery, you’ll find golden-topped white stupas of various sizes. • A nice monastery build if brick like every monument in this stone free region. The monastery contains a series of arched corridors at 90 degrees to each other. This creates interesting perspective for photographs. Interestingly they didn't seem to know about vaulted arches and all is build with step arches. A little market below offers some opportunity to take colorful picture of people. This can be visited with shoes!!
