Paquime
Traditional ceramic pieces at Paquime provide a glimpse into Mexican artistic heritage. The galley showcases some of the most important contemporary folk artists, including Juan Quezada and Francisco Bautista. Other items on display include painted woodcarvings and bead and yarn works. The gallery serves as an alternative to the usual sun-and-sand experience in Los Cabos. Lovely pieces of Mexican pottery in this gallery along with some other interesting and creative works. We enjoyed browsing and talking to the friendly staff. Located close to the town square. more »

The Paquime Gallery -- just a few steps from the town's main square -- is a very clean and neat gallery. They have a selection of Mata Ortiz pottery plus a very nice selection of jewelry. Their silver... more »

It is the most amazing archaeological site. The large area of adobe homes and multi-storied apartment buildings that the Paquime built make this site quite unique. They even had an efficient water system which brought hot water to their building complex from the hot springs to the north. A museum is located on the site, also worth visiting.

The most important archeological site in northern Mexico. The museum does a good job of putting the site in the context of other Pueblo civilizations in the region as well as its relationship with civilizations further south. The artifacts on display give valuable insight into daily life at Paquimé. I always enjoy the walking tours through the ruins, which is enhanced by bi-lingual explanatory signs throughout the site. If you are in the region, you should definitely plan on spending time at Paquimé. A quick visit can be accomplished in about 45 minutes, but a more complete visit will take about 2 hours.
