Chapultepec Castle, Mexico City

Explore the only castle in North America to be inhabited by a reigning monarch at Chapultepec Castle. Perched atop a sacred Aztec hill at 2,325 m (7,628 ft) above sea level, the castle was first constructed in 1775 as the stately residence of a Spanish colonial figure, but it has served many functions under a handful of different rulers during its storied history. Today you can take a historical tour through the building, which also houses an anthropology museum. Afterward, take a few moments to appreciate the views over the capital city from atop the hill. • Words can't describe this immense castle. Bring your walking shoes and be prepared to spend a few hours here! Entry is pretty cheap, then you must walk up a pretty steep hill for about six to seven minutes. Once you reach the top, you'll be amazed at how beautiful and ridiculously huge the castle is. Explore the multiple rooms and outdoor sections that often give you beautiful views of the city, large paintings, and regal vibes. Bring a camera and be ready for great photo opportunities! I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Mexico City and are looking for activities to do!
  • This is a beautiful historical building that became significant during the war with the United States. It also served to house presidents and monarchs (yes, it's that old). The building is well preserved including some bedrooms to show you the way it was set up and who lived there. Some parts have been restored but it keeps the original look.
